Entry for December 28, 2008

Over Christmas, it was established that (a) Auntie Kerry (that's me) is a much better footballer than she thought and actually scored a goal, but that (b) Auntie Kerry is seriously out of shape and could do with more exercise.

I'm also disturbed by the fact that I have a crush on Russell Brand, who I maintain is a tosser, despite having seen him with his shirt off in a recent film. I must have a thing for younger men (he's one day younger than me).

I've achieved mild fame as a guest blogger on the ATMac site (assistive technology for Apple and Mac users). Feel free to comment :)

First the good news: I'm finally not looking after sick family any more - everyone is fine. To answer Malcolm's question: no, the vomit was nothing to do with an orgy! The bad news is that, in some Daily Mail-headline-like catastrophe, my house seems to have depreciated quite a bit.

Currently I'm putting off doing all our Christmas cards. They're bought, but still somewhat blank. The deal is that Neil does all the wrapping, and I do all the cards. With any luck, the Royal Mail will still exist in a few weeks, and the cards may even arrive!

Now that half term is done, I have more time to waste on the net. I've therefore decided to write a pointless web page: http://www.geocities.com/leftfootgirl

While filling out a meaningless myspace survey, I remembered that the last film we saw was The Duchess. I'd recommend it, although Neil seemed to find it boring (typical man). Oh yes, and the reason we went out is that it was our 10th anniversary last Friday - yay us! Disappointingly, none of my internet stalkers wished me a happy anniversary.

It's getting increasingly common for stalkers to steal other people's pictures and create ridiculous fake profiles. You know who you are - stop doing it! (It hasn't happened to me recently, but it has to a couple of my friends.)

You know you've been spending too long on Second Life/Yahoo when... you're walking around outside and find yourself thinking "nice avatar" at people with exotic clothes, hair or accessories. I clearly need to get out more.

Entry for August 20, 2008

Yesterday, someone showed me a video clip of a young girl who looked a lot like me (in terms of looks and disability). I'm still surprised at my reaction, which was basically one of jealousy, not unlike the feeling you get when you go to a party and someone else is wearing pretty much the same thing as you. I'm still psychoanalysing myself over this - obviously on some level, I like being unique.

Well, that was incredibly self-absorbed, but you know me - what did you expect?

So, rapleaf have shut down their unlimited service! I was just getting the hang of doing an online background check on everyone in the world and getting the results emailed to me. Apparently there's a way you can still do this to some extent, but it's too technical for me.

I should have some more time in the near future, so I may even post more than once a month :)

Entry for June 18, 2008

I finally got Neil to take me to the Sex and the City film last weekend as a belated birthday present. I was not disappointed, although he was, and for some reason the frontal male nudity was more appealing to me than to him. The plot isn't that much like the TV series, but more (I thought) like a long episode of Desperate Housewives. I wouldn't have minded a pair of those never-worn diamond studded designer shoes as an engagement present, but I think they might be out of Neil's price range.

Summary: I recommend this film if you liked the TV series!

It's come to my attention that someone has been posting my personal pictures on a yahoo group, and has also been posting photoshopped pictures of a blonde naked teenager who is supposedly me. Words cannot express how grateful I am for this.

In an unrelated story, my myspace profile is now private :)

Last weekend I had a look at Maltron's website - they make ergonomic keyboards. I contacted them to ask what they would recommend for foot typing. They recommend the same keyboard that's designed for a mouth stick, which is this one. What do you think? It looks incredibly different from a standard keyboard.

It's come to my attention that my husband and I (do I sound like the Queen Mother circa 1940?) have turned into really antisocial people. I'm sure there was a point when I had actual friends and knew how to relate to people I met. Maybe this is a danger of having been married for nearly 10 years, but I know not everyone has this problem. Any suggestions?

Following a conversation with Larry just now, I'm wondering how many other people mishear my on-screen name. What do you think?

I got the following in a fortune cookie recently: "An admirer is too shy to greet you." Food for thought?

Oh, and the numbers 12, 44, 4, 24, 35, 15. That could mean anything.

I made the mistake recently of signing up for Fanbox. If the zombies from "I am Legend" had had a social networking site, I expect it would have been something like Fanbox. It encourages you to be friends with thousands of people who don't know you, because if they view your page, you supposedly earn money. They encourage file sharing in an insecure sounding way. Last, and not least, it keeps asking for your email passwords. Thanks to Larry and Glenn for encouraging me to un-sign up!

I've been thinking about getting a new car as I mentioned before, but doing the adaptations is kind of a pain (I have a foot steering system). I rang the DVLA recently and they said that I could learn to drive an unadapted automatic car, provided I can prove that I normally drive like that and I can do all the required tricks, such as emergency stop. I'm toying with the idea of actually doing that, although it does seem like a lot of work. For now, I think I'll probably drive my Fiesta into the ground.

Is anyone else here sad about Jeremy Beadle? A lot of people probably thought he was a bit of a tosser, but I really liked him.

I recommend that everyone search for themselves on rapleaf.com. The results are pretty interesting. Larry seemed shocked to find out that he had a flixster subscription :)

Searching for myself turned up a lot, but with any luck, not too many people are looking.
